The professional responsibility, the "good practice and malpractice" in obstetrics represents one of the major areas of medical-legal litigation. To date, however, there are no texts that simultaneously face both the critical aspects of labor and childbirth and the legal aspects. This text, for the first time, brings together both arguments. The work is therefore not a classic treatise on obstetrics and gynecology, but addresses the various aspects of labor and childbirth according to the medicine of evidence and international guidelines. Both the ACOG (American) and RACOG (English) guidelines have been included, so as to provide all the necessary tools to judge the work of obstetricians and gynecologists according to their country of origin. In every country, in fact, we follow different guidelines, here illustrated in full. To facilitate consultation, the text is divided into chapters dedicated to the various stages of preparation and assistance of labor, childbirth and postpartum. Each chapter is entrusted to the highest international experts of the matter. The text responds to the need to provide guidance that indicates what to do and what not to do in the care of labor and childbirth. In fact, looking at both the critical and legal aspects (valid for all countries), the guide book in the recognition of aspects of negative management (bad practice) that are often based on traditional processes, on scientific assumptions never validated, on " Beliefs and personal opinions.
